WhatsApp qualification script: Example of a flow that does not feel robotic

A WhatsApp script should not give the impression that a form has been split into messages.

The prospect must feel progress: we repeat their request, we verify two or three elements, then we propose a coherent follow-up. If the conversation resembles an interrogation, it will lose the best profiles as well as the worst.

The starting script

For a diagnosis request, I would start with a simple sequence:

Hello, I have received your diagnosis request. I ask you two quick questions to check if an exchange is relevant, then I suggest the right next step.

This first message has three qualities. It recalls the request, announces the effort required and gives a reason to respond.

The first question should clarify the desired result. The second must understand the context. The third, if necessary, must check the timing.

To choose these questions, start from the method detailed in the article on business qualification questions and adapt it to the shorter format of WhatsApp. If you need to collect signals in stages, progressive qualification gives a good framework so you don't ask for everything at once.

Branching logic

The script becomes useful when it adapts to the answers.

AnswerLogical continuation
Clear need + close timingpropose a meeting
Clear need + distant timingsend a resource and follow up
Need fuzzyask for clarification
Off targetrespond politely and exit
Complex questiontransmit to a human

This table is deliberately simple. The more readable the script, the easier it will be to improve.

Wordings to avoid

Avoid overly administrative questions at the beginning. “What is your budget?” or “are you a decision-maker?” can be useful, but rarely as a first interaction.

Also avoid messages that don't say why they exist. “Hello, can I help you?” is polite, but weak. The prospect has just taken an action. This action must be resumed.

Finally, avoid reminders that repeat exactly the same thing. A follow-up should reduce effort, not increase pressure.

When the prospect does not respond, the script must also provide a proper follow-up. The WhatsApp follow up after form method helps to follow up without giving the impression of insisting at the wrong time.

Where Formlyy helps

Formlyy allows you to transform this script into an adaptive agent. The AI does not just follow a list: it interprets the answers, asks a clarifying question, follows up properly and summarizes the conversation.

The script remains the basis. AI brings adaptation. Without a clear script, the AI improvises. With a clear script, it executes business logic.

The WhatsApp leads qualification page explains how this script fits into a real decision process.

For a broader view of the process, the article on the WhatsApp funnel shows how to link script, qualification, follow-up and appointment.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Should a WhatsApp script be long?

No. It should be long enough to decide what happens next, not to learn everything.

Can we personalize depending on the source?

Yes, and it’s even recommended. A Meta, Google or SEO lead does not have the same level of intent.

Should we announce that the agent is automated?

Above all, you must be clear about the purpose of the conversation and not make people believe that a human is responding if this is not the case.
